And for more dork-filled goodness!

That’s right, baby. Here at Beavercraft, it’s all dork, all the time!

Ok, maybe not, but today? Dorkville. Or maybe just Nerdville. It’s hard to tell some days.

Next friday, February 11th, is the (semi-unofficial) start of the local TSD rally season! I, sadly, still do not have a regular driver, but I hope to remedy that early in the season this year and get some prime rally time in.

I can see the vast majority of you scratching your heads and wondering just what the fuck I’m talking about, so I’ll briefly explain:

TSD stands for Time Speed Distance. Rally is self explanatory, no? TSD rallies are (generally) done on pavement, at or below posted speed limits, and are not about getting to the end before your competitors. For the Friday nighters, it’s all about observation and following directions EXACTLY, and being able to figure out very cryptic directions that are designed to throw you off track. For the Monte Carlo rallies it’s all about the math. The goal for both is to get from point A to point B in exactly the right amount of time. Without knowing what that exact amount of time is. That’s where the direction following comes in. And the math.
(if you’re even remotely interested, LOTS more info can be found here, and here, and here, here, here, and here. That last one is the team I rally with when I have a driver.) It’s the nerd sport to end all nerd sports! It’s chess with moving vehicles!

Any of you local NW’ers want to learn? I’m a decent navigator, and I’ve never puked during a rally (yet – there’s always time). Drop me a line!
